Terms of use
Oncewhisp · 2026-10-01.3Service
Oncewhisp provides invitation-based conversations between accounts identified by nickname and code, and group conversations. Messages are designed for one opening. Delivery requires connectivity and may expire before receipt. This is not an emergency service.
Permitted use
Harassment, threats, fraud, spam, impersonation, child sexual exploitation or abuse and illegal content are prohibited. Respect other people’s rights and privacy. You can ignore invitations, block and report users. We review reports and may suspend accounts for violations. You may request review of a suspension at safety-oncewhisp@gesoftware.dev.
Account and age
Protect your credentials and device. Age and authorization requirements: Only people aged 18 or over may use Oncewhisp. Parental permission does not allow access for people under 18.. Password recovery does not recover lost private keys or already deleted messages.
Account, termination and changes
You may stop using the service and delete your account in Settings. Deletion is permanent; signing out is not a substitute. We do not guarantee uninterrupted delivery or recovery of consumed messages. Material changes to these terms will be communicated before taking effect. Nothing limits mandatory consumer rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded. You are not required to participate in private dispute resolution to exercise your rights.
Temporary retention by agreement
In supported direct chats, both people may agree to keep only future text-only messages until the end of an agreed 2, 6 or 12 hour session starting at acceptance. This is off by default; requests expire after 24 hours and declining does not prevent chatting. Earlier messages, photos, videos, audio and captions are excluded. Texts are stored encrypted on the devices, including when activity history is off. The server stores participants, the agreement identifier, status and dates, but does not create a permanent message archive. Either person can revoke: the app removes saved texts when it processes the revocation and stops retaining future messages. An offline device may keep its copy until it receives the revocation or processes expiry while the app runs. Screenshots and external copies cannot be recalled. Active agreements end after the selected duration or when revoked; inactive records are removed by periodic cleanup after 25 hours from their last update. Agreements are excluded from server backups so old permissions are not restored.
